Accommodation varies from rustic rooms straight from a farmhouse to holiday cottages to exclusive, modern apartments with every comfort. For example in Chiemgau, where around 200 farmers choose their own farm holidays. If you want to go diving, you are never far from Lake Chiemsee – or the Alz River with its clear water.

Farms in the productive areas also offer special experiences – from spring, when the apple and peach trees bloom in a sea of pink and white flowers, to autumn, when you can watch or help in harvest. For example, Altes Land outside Hamburg with its apple orchards or Baden-Württemberg on Lake Constance. Of course, snacking is allowed!
Most farms operate within recognized environmental standards. The farm cafe often offers fresh pastries with home-grown apples. At the farm shop you can buy other products such as fresh milk, farm-raised meat suitable for animal species, home-made jam and eggs of various kinds.

“The greatest joy in the world is on horseback” – this also applies to holidays on a horse farm. In the Black Forest alone, around a dozen farms offer horses or transport through nature, including grooming and hoof trimming. And on the shores of the North and Baltic seas you can explore the beaches on horseback.
The people of Schleswig-Holstein call their holiday farms “Muggelich”, an evocative term for the pleasant, cozy atmosphere of the farm: a romantic holiday destination where traditions and values are preserved.
